OVERVIEW
The skill of the technologist is the single most important factor in the acquisition of high-quality diagnostic images. A successful CT examination is the culmination of many variables under the direct control of the technologist. Comprehension of CT image formation, image quality, postprocessing techniques, archiving, quality assurance testing, and artifacts is the responsibility of the radiologic technologist to ensure optimal image quality and safe and effective patient care.

2. Image Formation, Reconstruction, and Artifacts introduces the learner to the concepts of the image process, scanning methods, the digital image, image quality, image reconstruction, quality assurance tests, and artifacts. Many factors contribute to image quality, and a thorough understanding of the interactions among these factors will allow the technologist to acquire high-quality, diagnostic images.
4. Screening with CT introduces the learner to the benefits of screening for coronary artery disease, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, and visceral fat. These important exams not only detect cancer early in the disease process, but assist both the physician and patient in the management of general health and lifestyle.
5: – MSK and Spine CT prepares the learner to safely and effectively acquire diagnostic CT images of the musculoskeletal system and spine. Careful patient screening and preparation are essential for ensuring a quality exam. A working knowledge of skeletal and spinal anatomy is key to correctly position the patient to acquire diagnostic images. After a review of the anatomy, the learner will be instructed on image acquisition by referencing multiplanar reconstructions for each region of interest.

This program has been approved by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) for up to 7.75 ARRT Category A continuing education credits.
