LECTURE OVERVIEW
In a busy radiology practice, effective communication is more important than ever and yet there doesn’t seem to be enough time to really listen to patients and colleagues. Effective listening is a skill that contributes to relationship building, problem solving, conflict resolution, and imaging accuracy, resulting in fewer errors and less unproductive time. This lecture will explore the skills that are necessary to improve effective communication and the impact of body language and nonverbal signals on effective communication.

Mr. Mitchell currently serves as the Executive Director of Diagnostic Imaging for the Northeast Georgia Health System with oversite of four hospitals and four imaging centers.
Prior to his recent move to the Northeast Georgia Health System, Mr. Mitchell was employed for more than 25 years with Augusta University Medical system and the Medical College of Georgia. He started his career as a CT Tech and proceeded to assume multiple levels of leadership responsibilities.
Mr. Mitchell has received several awards, including the Employee Ambassador Award in 2006, the Superior Employee Award in 2011, and the Outstanding Community Service Award in 2016. He has served as President of the Association of Administrators in Academic Radiology (AAARAD) and has previously served as a Patient Reviewer for Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and as a Patient Experience Operations Committee member.
He is a member of several professional societies, including the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, Radiology Business Management Association, Association for Medical Imaging Management, and the Association of Administrators in Academic Radiology.
Mr. Mitchell is passionate about creating a positive patient experience in the radiology suite and deploying LEAN processes to improve all aspects of everyday operations.
