Course Overview
As breast imaging practices move from stereotactic to tomosynthesis-image guided biopsy, new solutions have emerged to improve throughput, diagnostic accuracy, and patient comfort.
This course will discuss the pros and cons of tomosynthesis-guided breast biopsy for abnormalities found on 3D mammography including upright and prone biopsy techniques and real-time specimen processing.1,2

After receiving her medical degree at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Borofsky completed her residency and fellowship in radiology, breast imaging, and body imaging at Stanford Medical Center. As Medical Director of Breast Imaging at Mills-Peninsula Women’s Center, Dr. Borofsky is a champion for women’s health and early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer. Her passion for breast health has kept
Mills-Peninsula in the forefront of the latest, most important, and impactful technologies, including digital breast tomosynthesis (3D mammography), tomographic-guided biopsies, and wireless needle localization procedures.
Dr. Borofsky has also taken a leadership role in campaigning activities to assure that all women in the community have access to screening mammography. Her work with the Foundation Board enables over 500 uninsured women to participate in the community screening program annually. Dr. Borofsky has written numerous articles and has been an invited speaker and guest lecturer on topics related to early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer. She received the San Francisco Bay Area Top Doctors Award, San Francisco Magazine, for the past four consecutive years; the Mills-Peninsula Physician of the Year award in 2006; the “Making a Difference for Women” award from the Mid-Peninsula chapter of Soroptimist International in 2007; and the deGuigne Award from the Mills-Peninsula Foundation in 2010. Dr. Borofsky is a also principle investigator for the STRIVE Study.
