OVERVIEW AND EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) permanently repealed the Sustainable Growth Rate and established regulatory framework which rewards clinicians for value over volume. For imaging administrators, the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) includes a mandate for utilizing imaging clinical decision support (CDS) or the Medicare Appropriate Use Criteria Program (AUC).
The deadline for ordering providers to begin consulting CDS when placing advanced imaging orders, and for furnishing providers to submit documentation of CDS use on Medicare claims for reimbursement is January 1, 2018. This lecture will discuss the regulatory environment and associated trends in the medical imaging marketplace and how imaging organizations can implement and comply with the current regulations and requirements.
