The 2014 Chicago International Breast Course and Society for the Advancement of Women's Imaging Annual Meeting incorporates cutting-edge technology with an advanced but practical approach to everyday practice. These advanced-level lectures will introduce you to new and cutting-edge topics and technologies.

CIBC/SAWI Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of this series, participants should be better able to:

  • Examine the political and economic forces that shape health policy
  • Appreciate the imaging of breast biomarkers
  • Characterize breast lesions using the ACR BI-RADS®
  • Apply anatomic, physiologic, and pathologic features, including multimodality correlation, for correct image interpretation
  • Discuss what is meant by “over diagnosis”
  • Adjust US systems for image optimization and understand ways to integrate supplemental screening with US into your practice
  • Recognize the indications for and the selection and utilization of the appropriate percutaneous image-guided breast interventional procedures
  • Describe the management of high-risk breast lesions and how imaging influences selection of surgical procedures
  • Recognize radiation doses of common X-ray examinations including 2-D mammography, tomosynthesis, PET, nuclear medicine, and high-resolution CT scans
  • Describe the mechanics of tomosynthesis and how this modality can reduce false-positive mammography interpretations
  • Appreciate how to integrate tomosynthesis, whole breast ultrasound, and MRI into diagnostic evaluations
  • Discuss workflow problems that may be encountered in incorporating new modalities
  • Differentiate benign from malignant pelvic masses
  • Describe the imaging work-up of gynecologic malignancy
  • Recognize complications of pregnancy and fetal anomalies
  • Triage patients with pelvic floor relaxation
