Course Overview
Expertise in ultrasound (US) breast imaging and interventional technique is essential for successful clinical diagnosis, tissue sampling, and improved patient management. With today’s multimodality screening and diagnosis employing analog and digital mammography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of the breast a clinical reality, radiologists and radiologic technologists must be familiar with and have a complete understanding of US technology and the many adjunct technical tools available in order to optimize the clinical application of US in the integrated breast imaging workplace and its impact in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of breast disease.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Identify clinical indications for diagnostic and interventional US imaging
  • Choose appropriate adjunct tools to optimize the diagnostic US examination
  • Discuss strategies to overcome challenges of US imaging and biopsy technique
