Series Overview
This series brings to learners the opportunity to view a variety of liver MRI cases. Expert faculty will share their experience and approach to liver MRI in their practice.


Educational Objectives for this Series
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be more confident to:

• Develop a systematic strategy for the evaluation and interpretation of liver MRI to improve diagnostic accuracy
• Provide a practical and clinically-oriented overview of liver MRI techniques and image interpretation in the diagnosis of liver disease

   2. Instructions to print a credit certificate will be generated upon completion of the online EVALUATION.


Faculty Biography
Dr. Maki earned his MD and PhD at Duke University.  His thesis work in biomedical engineering explored MR diffusion and perfusion.  Dr. Maki spent a brief year internship year at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, followed by residency training in diagnostic radiology and fellowship training in MR and body imaging at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  Dr. Maki joined the faculty at Puget Sound VA Health Care Service in Seattle in 1998.  In 2003, he began dividing his time between the VA and the University of Washington. Dr. Maki is currently Director of Body MR and holds the academic rank of associate professor.

Dr. Maki is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American College of Radiology.  He primarily specializes in body MRI, specifically cardiac, vascular, and liver imaging, although clinically he practices a wide range of general body CT, ultrasound and MRI.  Much of his research has focused on MR contrast agents and image processing applications in the cardiovascular system and liver.  Dr. Maki has over 50 publications in journals such as Radiology, Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, American Journal of Roentgenology, Circulation, and the Annals of Internal Medicine and has presented his research both nationally and internationally at radiology society meetings such as the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, the Radiological Society of North America, and the International Magnetic Resonance Angiography Club.  He is also a prolific medical educator, having delivered well over one hundred educational seminars and continuing medical education lectures in the US and abroad.
