Neuroradiological Applications of MRI

MRI for Technologists is a training program designed to meet the needs of radiologic technologists entering or working in the MRI field.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Module 4 - Neuroradiological Applications of MRI - focuses on elements of MRI that are important to understand to be successful in performing high-quality diagnostic studies. The module includes self-instructional text, tables, scan protocols, and images, supplemented by a glossary, cross vendor lexicon, and a pretest to help identify specific learning needs.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this activity, the reader will be able to evaluate different sequences that optimize imaging of different pathologies in the brain and spine; distinguish the different categories of disease processes that can affect the brain and spine; identify imaging characteristics of specific diseases of the brain and spine; describe diffusion and perfusion imaging; identify some clinical uses of diffusion-weighted imaging; explain how perfusion-weighted imaging is useful for clinical management in the setting of acute stroke; and list additional uses for perfusion imaging.

ACCREDITATION AND CREDIT

This program has been approved by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) for 4.5 hours of ARRT Category A continuing education credit.

This program has been approved by the State of Florida Department of Health Bureau of Radiation Control Radiological Technologist Program for 4.5 hours of continuing education credit.

HOW TO RECEIVE CREDIT

Estimated time to complete this activity is 4.5 hours. There are no prerequisites to participate in this activity.

  • The posttest and evaluation are required to receive credit and must be completed online.
  • In order to access the posttest and evaluation, you must order the print material or register for the course online at www.icpme.us.
  • Read the entire activity.
  • Log in to your account at www.icpme.us to complete the posttest and evaluation, accessible through the course link in your account. Click on the on-line version of the module.
  • A passing grade of at least 75% is required to receive credit.
  • You may take the test up to three times.
  • Upon receipt of a passing grade, you will receive instructions to print a credit certificate.
  • There is a $30 fee to process a certificate of credit.
