Dr. Bernardi received her medical degree from and completed her residency and fellowship in diagnostic radiology at the University School of Medicine in Verona, Italy.
Since 2009, Dr. Bernardi has been working at the Department of Radiology of APSS, Trento, primarily working in breast imaging. In 2007, she became Director of the Mammography Screening Program of the Trento province.
Dr. Bernardi’s research has mainly focused on the clinical introduction of digital breast tomosynthesis. In 2011 and 2013, she conducted two large clinical trials (STORM and STORM2), comparing this new technology to digital mammography for breast cancer screening. Since 2014, Dr. Bernardi has also used dual-energy contrast-enhanced digital mammography (CEDM), focusing her research on the clinical aspects of this methodology. She is currently conducting a new trial on the comparison between CEDM and MRI.
The author of 35 scientific publications, Dr. Bernardi studies new equipment and technologies, protocols, and approaches in breast imaging and interventional procedures. She has lectured at well over 100 national and international scientific meetings and training courses.
