Course Overview
Expertise in ultrasound breast imaging and interventional technique is essential for successful clinical diagnosis, tissue sampling, and improved patient management. Radiologists and radiologic technologists must be familiar with and have a complete understanding of US technology and the many adjunct technical tools available in order to optimize the clinical application of US in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of breast disease.

Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be better able to:

• Identify clinical indications for diagnostic and interventional US imaging
• Choose appropriate adjunct tools to optimize the diagnostic US examination
• Select the appropriate US-guided biopsy technique and device to adequately sample breast tissue
• Discuss strategies to overcome challenges of US imaging and biopsy technique

Faculty Biography
Dr. Brem earned her medical degree from Columbia University, followed an internship in internal medicine at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and residency in radiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She pursued additional training in both magnetic resonance imaging and breast imaging as a fellow at the Johns Hopkins Department of Radiology and Radiological Science.

Dr. Brem has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and has chapters in several books, including Advances in Radiology & Radiation Oncology and Contemporary Diagnostic Radiology. She presently serves as a reviewer on numerous journals, including The Journal of the National  Cancer Institute,  American Journal of Roentgenology, The Breast Journal, Journal of Nuclear Medicine, and Mayo Clinic Proceedings.

Dr. Brem is a fellow of the American College of Radiology and a member of the Radiologic Society of North America, Society of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, American Association of Women Radiologists, Society of Breast Imaging, among others.
